Riverdale Season 4 was not supposed to end so soon. However, due to the pandemic, it was cut short and the remaining episodes are going to release along with Season 5. The latest season ended with a cliffhanger. According to Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale Season 5 filming has started. Also, the 7 years time-jump is also confirmed to be the plot of the upcoming season. Moreover, it is also confirmed that the upcoming season is introducing some new cast members, like Jughead’s new girlfriend and Veronica’s husband. The remaining episodes of Riverdale Season 4 include Prom Episode in which Archie and Betty’s secret is going to be revealed. Most probably it is going to be the reason for the couple’s breakup. Archie Andrews Is Going To Die in Riverdale Season 5
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa pretty much revealed that Archie is going to die in Episode four of Riverdale Season 5, which is actually chapter80 “Purgatory“. The cover of the script shows “Jughead, Betty and Veronica” standing in front of Archie’s grave. In the Archie Comic Series, Archie actually died, he was shot in the stomach while saving his friend Senator Kevin Keller and Riverdale High school was named Archie Andrews High School in his honor.
The way in which Archie dies is everything that you would expect of Archie,” said Jon Goldwater, Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO. “He dies heroically and dies selflessly. He dies in the manner that epitomizes not only the best of Riverdale but the best of all of us. It’s what Archie has come to represent over the past almost 75 years.
At the beginning of the season, we said that we were going to focus a little bit more on the high school stuff, and I feel like we did, like the last football game and the last Vixens, and then prom and getting into college and a lot of those things, and really, I’m asking how do we keep that franchise going? High school, it’s so important to the characters and the brand. And I guess in a way I’m not ready to say goodbye to it, is the truth.

However, Archie’s death is not confirmed yet and it’s most likely not gonna happen either since the whole show is based on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. In Season 4, Jughead also faked his death. Riverdale returns with its fifth season next year in January.
