What is the mission about?
Basically, in the Cut the Head Phalanx Mission, you are trading for an encryption key at any Buy Station in the Vondel Region. After that activate 4 Laptops in the market area.
Then, you need to X-Fill with the Encryption Key. This Story Mission doesn’t say that you need to do it in one deployment, but we recommend you do it in one sitting without saving or closing anything.
Even if you fail, repeat everything from starting. There are still some bugs and glitches in the game that might trigger and you will be stuck.
Recipe for Complete Cut the Head Encryption Key
For the Encryption Key Trade, you will be needing the following things;
- Stronghold Keycard
- Throwing Knife
- Inflatable Decoy
- Smoke Grenade
In order to get all of these items, you can equip them from the Loadout Screen. Our recommendation would be to bring in two stronghold keycards here.
You can also get them from the Buy Station if you don’t have these items with you.
Even some AI or HVTs drop them in the game as well. So, there is no worrying as to where these items can be found.

Reaching the Vondel Market
Now, that you have all the items, you will need to head over to the Vondel Market. Below, we have the map location of where this central market area.
Trading for the Encryption Key
In this area, you will come across many Buy Stations. Head over to anyone you like and then trade the things for the Encryption Key.
Finding 4 Laptops
Here in this area, you will also find four laptops. That is why our recommendation is to bring in two stronghold keycards instead of only one.
You can use one of the Stronghold Keycards for trading and use the other one for the location we mentioned.
After that, you need to go around the area and Storm the Stronghold. Two of the Laptops are on the First Floor and Two are on the Second Floor.
- When you get inside the building from the Southern Doorway, you will find the Laptop on your left, sitting on the couch.
- The second Laptop is just across from the Bar.
- The Third one is on the second floor. Use the stairs to reach the second floor and the third laptop will be on the pool table.
- Take another left and from there you will find the Forth Laptop on a sofa just around another Pool Table.
X-Fill
Now that you have activates all four laptops in the Cut the Head Tier-5 Phalanx Story Mission in DMZ, you simply have to X-Fill.
In the Vondel area, the one piece of advice we can give you is to use the water as much as you can.
In this way, you will be able to avoid AI and other Operators that are hard to fight.
Even if you find an X-Fill near a radiation zone, our recommendation would be to go for that specific one. Or, you can also go for the farthest one from the center of the map.
There are sometimes other Operators that are trying to X-Fill as well here. Don’t kill the AI near the X-Fill, as much as possible.
If you do, the operators are going to detect you and it will cause trouble for later.
