Amazon Prime’s new Spanish YA movie My Fault also known as Culpa Mia. Culpa Mia is based on the book Trilogy by Mercedes Ron “Culpables“. The movie was released on June 8, 2023, worldwide. The movie received average responses from critics. However, the movie has become famous on social media. Also, the film has a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is also trending on the top 10 list of Amazon Prime.
The film follows Noah, a teenage girl who is forced to leave her life behind as her mother Rafaella marries a rich and wealthy man. Noah moves into the mansion of her stepfather, Will Leister. Noah meets her step-brother, and soon she discovers the truth about Nick’s lifestyle with illegal racing and parties.
Just like the After Movie franchise, My Fault is also based on a Wattpad story.
Culpa Mia 2 Release Date
There is no official announcement about the My Fault 2 Release Date yet. If the movie continues to perform well on the platform then Prime Videos will continue with the future movies. Even though the movie failed to get positive remarks from the critics, it still won the hearts of the viewers. It is not the first time a streaming platform continues with a franchise that mixed reviews from critics. Netflix’s “The Kissing Booth” is also a Wattpad story turned into a book by Beth Reekles. The Kissing Both got two more movies from Netflix. So, there is hope for My Fault 2.
If the streaming platform decides to create another movie, it will probably release in June 2024. Amazon Prime has not officially announced the renewal status of the movie yet.
Plot
If Amazon Prime decides to create a sequel then it will follow the second book in the series “Culpa Tuya”. Noah will turn 18 in the second book and leaves for university which makes things complicated between Nick and Noah. The books delve into the complexities of love, trust, and forgiveness as Nick and Noah navigate their feelings for each other. If the creators stay as faithful to the book as the first movie, then they will definitely follow the second book for the sequel.
Also, Mercedes Ron revealed in an interview that “It is a dream being able to see her book turned into a film”. She also revealed that the book did so well on Wattpad so it was important that the fanbase of the book actually likes the movie adaptation of the book as well.
Cast
All the previous cast members will return for the sequel. The author also explained why she selected Gabriel Guevara to play Nick even though Nick has blue eyes in the books, she chose Wallace to play the role because Gabriel and Nicole had great chemistry together, and it was important for the author to show better chemistry between and Nick and Noah than the appearances.
We might see some new faces in the sequel. But there is no news about the casting of the sequel yet.
