Netflix Daredevil series was first released back in 2015 and became a hit after the release. It’s based on a Marvel’s comic book hero Daredevil, Matt Murdock, who got blinded but got a super-power in exchange. He is a lawyer by day and fights criminals at night as a vigilante. Being blinded heightened his other senses such as his hearing. He became the devil of Hell’s kitchen. Many Marvel TV shows aired on Netflix like The Punisher, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones, and there was a cross-over series, Defenders. However, all of these shows are now canceled. The good thing about these shows was there were plenty of crossovers. The shows were inter-linked, like how marvel heroes are supposed to be.
Punisher’s backstory was shown in Daredevil, in Daredevil Season 2, Punisher, played by Bernthal was the one of the main cast. Sadly, Punisher was not in defenders. It first aired back in 2017 and ended in 2019 with second and last season. Iron Fist also has only two seasons, the same case with Luke Cage. On November 29, 2018, Netflix canceled Daredevil with third and finals season. They claim the ending was too good for another season, so they ended the show. Charlie Cox played as Matt Murdock and was called perfect “Daredevil”. All three seasons were pretty good. So, Daredevil Season 4 is not coming to Netflix. However, Disney plus is reviving some Netflix Marvel characters.
Daredevil Season 4 and Disney
Rumors suggest that Disney is trying to bring back Charlie Cox to play Daredevil’s role in Daredevil Season 4. They are also trying to bring back Jon Bernthal to play Punisher and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. The problem is, Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal are still under contract with Netflix. Netflix no longer has the rights to make Marvel TV series, and actors like Charlie Cox have no right to play the same characters for someone else.
From this, we can assume, even if Disney brings Daredevil Season 4 up, Charlie Cox won’t be playing Daredevil. However, if they end up solving their contract problem, Charlie can return. Rumors also circulating around that Charlie Cox might play Daredevil in the new upcoming Spiderman 3 movie starring Tom Holland. Marvel will regain the rights to the characters like Daredevil and Jessica Jones in November 2020.
Due to the contract between Netflix and Marvel, characters like Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones can’t be used until two years after each show was cancelled.https://t.co/QSjfd3ENOL pic.twitter.com/C2IxrTysG4— IGN (@IGN) June 4, 2020
Marvel is reviving Defenders project too, sadly the team you are expecting won’t be the same on Disney Plus. Most of the fans don’t know that Daredevil is part of MCU.
Within the Marvel universe, there are thousands of heroes of all shapes and sizes, but the Avengers are here to save the universe, and Daredevil is here to save the neighborhood. It does take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Many amazing Marvel TV shows are coming to Disney+ like She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel. We also hope that Daredevil Season 4 happens with Charlie Cox in it.
Why Netflix Canceled Marvel TV Shows?
Netflix and Marvel both had a contract. Marvel can not use the characters after two years of the cancellation of the shows. Netflix invests a lot on the TV shows. That is why Marvel had to wait for two years to use these characters in their movies and TV shows. This contract happened back in 2018. Netflix came up with its own comic book universe. There are shows like The Umbrella Academy which are basically Netflix Original and have gained massive amounts of the audience in such a short time.
Next month, Netflix and Marvel contract will finally be over and Marvel will be able to use these characters again.
While Marvel Studios awaits for his Netflix hold to expire, discussions have been tossed around on what to do with Daredevil besides another TV series,” the source said. “[It] will happen on one of Disney’s streaming networks.
Charlie Cox is also up for playing Daredevil role one more time.
