Facebook has been introducing a lot of new features lately. A year ago, Facebook introduced the music feature that can be added to your Facebook profile. In 2020, Facebook added a feature “Music Videos” after partnering with Sony Music, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group.
Facebook also introduced “Reels” to compete with Tiktok. Moreover, we can now also add music to our Facebook stories. Recently, Facebook also known as Meta announced that it’s working on a new feature for Facebook Group. According to Meta, admins of the Facebook group will soon be able to create voice channels within the group to discuss their common interests. This feature was first introduced in Discord for Gamers. This will allow the members of the group to interact in “smaller, more casual settings where they can have deeper discussions on common interests or organize their communities around topics in different formats.”
This is not the first time that Meta has copied a feature from another application. Reels were introduced in the Facebook Application to compete with TikTok.
This feature will allow admins to create audio channels, in which members can “casually jump in and out of audio conversations in real time”. Moreover, they can also chat through text channels. People who use discord are familiar with this feature. This feature is known as “Sidebar”. Channels within groups will include text chats, audio rooms, and feed rooms.
Right now, this feature is in the testing phase. However, according to Meta, it’s going to be rolled out soon in the coming months.
