Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram Down due to DDos Attack Worldwide

Applications owned by Facebook stopped working today. WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram have all gone down in a major outage. Facebook has revealed on Twitter that it is aware of the issue.

We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Facebook Tweeted this two hours ago but didn’t reveal what is causing the problem. On Twitter, #facebookdown #MarkZuckerberg and #WhatsApp are currently trending. Soon after the major outage, Twitter tweeted “hello literally everyone”. Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram users turned to Twitter to find out about what may have caused this issue. Instagram.com is currently displaying “5xx Server Error” while facebook.com is displaying “This site can’t be reached” which means it is most likely a DNS error.

In 2019, the global outage lasted one hour. However, this time it has been more than two hours. According to different channels on Telegram, this is most likely a DDoS Attack (Distributed Denial-of-Service).

This is not confirmed yet since Facebook didn’t reveal anything. The cause of the major outage still remains unclear. Facebook, Inc’s stock also went down by 5.30% today.
