Heartstopper Season 2 Release Date
Netflix announced on May 20, 2022, that the show will return for seasons 2 and 3 of the show. The show quickly became a hit on the streaming service. It was trending in the top 10 across the world. Netflix said this in the tweet about Heartstopper Season 2:
“To those who have fallen in love with Nick & Charlie, cried watching Alice Oseman’s magical story brought to life, or felt represented for the first time on-screen, I am elated to announce… Heartstopper has been renewed for TWO MORE SEASONS!”
The show is expected to release in 2023. Alice Oseman revealed in an interview with RadioTimes.com that she thinks there should be 4 seasons of the show. She said this during the interview:
“It would probably be four seasons to cover the full story,” she said. “I haven’t done any in-detail planning or anything, but it’s quite easy to divide up the books into seasons, so four I think would do it.”
However, it depends on Netflix if they go ahead with the 4 seasons plan.
Heartstopper Season 1 ended with a lot of unanswered questions. Season 1 of the show ended with a cliffhanger, Nick came out to his mother. However, season 1 of the show was based on volume 1 and volume 2 of the graphic novel.
So, season 2 might follow the events of volumes 3 and 4 of the graphic novel. In volume 3, both Nick and Charlie go on their first trip as a couple to Paris and face new challenges and problems. Kit Connor, who plays Nick Nelson on the show, shared his thoughts on Nick and Charlie’s future in an interview with RadioTimes:
“But in terms of, I suppose what I’d like to see for Nick, I think just the strengthening Nick and Charlie’s relationship. In Season 1, we very much see the young love and the beginnings of their relationship. And I think that it would be lovely, you know – not just to act – also just to see, as well, their relationship just, sort of, get stronger and blossom.”
