Increase Character Level

Characters in Honkai Star Rail have Levels ranging from 1 to 80 and need to ascend once they reach certain level milestones. To ascend a Character, you must have two things. An account of the appropriate Trailblaze Level and the required materials from the overworld’s Crawling Shadow Bosses and enemies. Characters gain stats as their level increases.

Unlock Traces

In Honkai Star Rail, Traces are unique character skills unlocked after collecting the required materials. They take the form of a skill tree, so you can unlock and upgrade nodes according to your gameplay needs. Keep in mind that you need a certain ascension level to advance a certain skill tree.

To upgrade a Character’s Trace, you need to be at an appropriate level and have all the required materials. You can buy these at the shop, collect them as mission rewards, or find them in the Cocoon of Distortion. Trace upgrades give your character stat bonuses, new passive abilities, stronger potencies, and more.

Enhance Relics

Used to boost stats like attack, speed, Crit damage, and HP, Relics are like armor and accessories. Each character can equip up to 6 different Relics, getting a set bonus if 2 or 4 Relics belong to the same set.

Each Relic has a main stat and several sub-stats which are RNG-based and increase at random as you enhance it. You can farm Relics mid-late game in the Cavern of Corrosion.

Equip Light Cones

Comparable to weapons, Light Cones are cards that boost stats by a specific amount once equipped. They vary in rarity from 3 to 5 stars and upgrade from levels 1 to 80.

Light cones are categorized by their associated Path and offer a passive bonus effect when equipped on a character of the same Path. Each character also has a signature Light Cone featuring them on the card art.

Upgrade Eidolons

Eidolons are character-specific permanent upgrades that boost stats, enhance pre-existing character abilities, or provide new unique passive bonuses. Each character has 6 unique Eidolon nodes. You can unlock these by fulfilling the character level and material requirements.

Eidolons are further upgraded by obtaining duplicates of a character from the Gacha system or through in-game missions and events. But the main Trailblazer character is an exception to this. To upgrade it, you must go through the Trailblaze level or Account level.

Conclusion

There are many things you must do to progress in Honkai Star Rail. You can choose to level up your character or upgrade Eidolons. Either way, we hope this Honkai Star Rail Progression Guide helps you have a smoother journey. With that said happy gaming!
