Reality Composer, a tool designed by Apple, allows you to create and animate 3D objects in the real world using Augmented Reality. This tool can help create Prototype AR scenes in real-world environments. The tool was released back in 2019.
Using Reality Composer, anyone can create AR-based scenes, no design or coding skills are required. Apple has made this a lot easier.
How to Make Augmented Reality Scenes using Reality Composer?
Before you start a project, make sure your device is running on iOS 13.2 or later. Also, download the Reality Composer Application from Appstore. Open the application, and click on create a new project on your iPhone or iPad.
Click on create new document. It will ask you to choose an Anchor, Horizontal or Vertical. Depending where you want to place the 3D object, choose accordingly. If it’s on the surface or a floor, choose Horizontal Anchor, if you are creating an object to hang on the wall, choose Vertical Anchor. For selfie AR, like those available on the snapchat, choose the face anchor.
We will go with Horizontal one, click on it, a cube will appear on the screen. Delete the cube, and click on the Add icon (+). Choose an object from the Reality Composer Library. Tap on any object to place it anywhere.
You can customize the environment using Augmented Reality. Click on the object and change it’s look, style, position or resize it accordingly. Also behaviour can be added to the 3D object too. It will allow it to move or play a sound etc.
Now that you are done with your 3D object, time to watch it in a real-world environment, click on the AR button on the top. It will use your device’s camera to display the object on your screen.
Reality Composer helps in finding out which place or position is best suitable for a new decoration object even before purchasing it.
