The plot of the series revolves around the devil, Lucifer, who left the Hell and started his life in Los Angeles. He becomes a nightclub owner but later helps local police and assists them in solving crimes. Lord of Hell finds out that his vulnerability lies on Earth. Detective Chloe Decker, whom Lucifer has been working with, makes the devil vulnerable.

Lucifer Season 5 was supposed to be the final season of the series. Fans were unhappy with this decision. Production of Season 5 was put on a halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, only a few episodes were left to shoot. There are going to be 2 parts of Season 5 each consisting of 8 episodes. Tom Ellis has been negotiating with Netflix for a Season 6 for quite a while now and he is close to returning as the devil in Season 6. So pretty much Netflix showed green light for the sixth season. Even the deadline and collider confirmed this. The cast members are also on board with the decision of another season.

That’s fake news, there’s no lucifer without the man himself, Tom Ellis. Also, Tom Ellis is negotiating with Netflix for a sixth season. Why would he if he is going to lose his role? While some fans would love to see Ian Somerhalder as the Devil, Lord of hell. No one can do it better other than Tom Ellis himself.

Lucifer Season 5 release date is not announced yet. According to Deadline:

I hear the show had four days from Season 5 left to shoot when production was suspended in March.

Some sources claim that Lucifer Season 5 will release in September. Nothing official has been declared yet.
