AMC is working on another spin-off show. “Isle Of The Dead” is an upcoming show that will focus on Maggie and Negan as they will encounter the dead in New York City. Negan was the biggest antagonist of season 7 till season 10. Negan brutally killed Maggie’s husband and fan-favorite character Glenn Rhee. However, Negan changed in season 10 and helped the group in defeating the Whisperers and became part of the group.
Both Maggie and Negan have become closer in season 11 as the group attack meridian in order to find supplies for their community. Fans loved their awkward interactions. Fans want to see more of the characters. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan also played Bruce Wayne’s parents in Superman Vs Batman in 2016.
However, creators have been thinking about a spin-off series for Maggie since 2019. Isle of the dead is not the only spin-off show. Fear The Walking Dead is also renewed for season 8 of the show. Tales of the dead is another anthology series that will release soon. There is another spin-off show for Daryl and Carol. Even though the real show will end after season 11, the walking dead’s universe is not over yet.
Plot
Negan and Maggie will go together to New York city full of dead. Not much is revealed about the plot of the upcoming series yet. The spin-off show will have 6 episodes. Dan McDermott, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios said this in an interview;
“This is a very big day for the expanding universe we are building around The Walking Dead,”. It not only adds another compelling series to this collection, but it also extends our storytelling around two unforgettable characters fans have grown to love, hate or hate and then love in Maggie and Negan, brilliantly inhabited by Lauren and Jeffrey. It also lets us explore a corner of this universe located on the island of Manhattan, with an iconic skyline that takes on a very different meaning when viewed through the lens of a zombie apocalypse.”
Scott Gimple the showrunner of the show also shared his thoughts about the upcoming show.
“Eli has created a chaotic, beautiful, grimy madhouse of the dead for Negan, Maggie, and fans of the show eager to discover an unseen and insane world of the TWD Universe. Lauren and Jeffrey have always been fantastic collaborators and now, we bring that collaboration to the next level with a series that will take these characters to their limits with the world — and each other. All of us are thrilled to take you on an all-new, all different TWD epic for the ages.”
Cast
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan will be returning for the spin-off show. But, there is no news about which other characters from the original show will appear in the future spin-off show.
Isle Of The Dead Release Date
Isle Of The Dead series will release in 2023 on AMC+ and AMC network.
