Back in 2017, Mark Miller sold his comic-book company/universe for $31 million to Netflix. Jupiter’s Legacy is a Netflix Original series based on Mark Miller’s comics of the same name. Millarworld is a comic-book company that was founded in 2014. The series is directed by former Daredevil producer and director “Steven S. DeKnight” On 7th May, Jupiter’s Legacy Season 1 aired on the streaming giant. Season 1 of the series is rated 9.5/10 on the IMDb right now.
The show received positive reviews from the fans. The plot is based on the super-powered children who are struggling to live up to their parents’ legacy who are the original superheroes. The show takes place in two timelines, the current timeline and the other one shows us how the original/former super-heroes got their powers. In the current timeline, Utopian (Sheldon) and Lady Liberty(Grace) are married and protecting the Earth from super-villains since they got their powers from the island. Sheldon and Grace along with the original superheroes founded the Union of Justice which follows a strict code “No killing”. However, some superheroes in the Union are against it.
Skyfox(George), who was the founding member of the Union of Justice broke the code and became the supervillain. Though we didn’t get to see much of Skyfox in the current timeline. Season 1 basically follows the moral conflict in the Union “if killing should be allowed?”. Sheldon is strictly against it, however, Walter a.k.a Brainwave is against the code. Season 1 ended with a huge twist that Brainwave was behind all the current troubles that the Union is facing like Blackstar’s clone. Walter convinced Grace and Sheldon that Skyfox is behind all this to hide his scheme. He even killed his own daughter to hide it.
Jupiter’s Legacy Season 2 Release Date
On the basis of Mark Miller’s comments, Jupiter’s Legacy Season 2 is renewed and will air sometime in 2022. However, Netflix has yet to renew it officially. Mark Miller said in an interview with Deadline:
Season 2 is up to the audience. We don’t want to get too cocky. All I see is we’re going into this incredibly bullish. We feel great about it. I’ve watched, even over Covid, I sat in edits every day pretty much and I never tire of it. So, fingers crossed people love it as much as we do.
Plot
We can’t really assume the plot of Jupiter’s Legacy Season 2 from the comics since the show roughly follows it. In the comics, Brandon is also like Chloe. However, in the series Brandon (Paragon) is actually trying to be the hero his father wants him to be. As we mentioned, season 1 mostly followed the moral conflict in the Union. Brainwave created the clone of Blackstar and fooled the Union. He is still in the Union so Season 2 is probably going to show us what his plans are since Walter thinks Sheldon has failed the nation. Hutch is in the quest of finding his father “Skyfox” and now Chloe is helping him in the quest.

Except for the heroes who died in Season 1, all the superheroes will return in Season 2. Some of the heroes and villains from comics have yet to make an appearance in the show.
