Matt Davis, also known as, Matthew Davis, plays the role of Alaric Saltzman in the Legacies which is the spin-off series of The Vampire Diaries. The show first aired back in 2018 after The Originals ended. Legacies revolve around Hope Mikaelson, a tribrid, and the Salvatore School for the gifted. She is also the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson, who died in The Originals so that Hope can live a happy and peaceful life. Alaric Saltzman is running the Salvatore School with the help of Caroline.
Legacies Season 2 was cut short because of COVID-19, so the latest episode was considered to be the finale of the season. However, it’s confirmed Season 3 will premier next year in January. At the end of Season 2, we saw Hope was still stuck in the sleeping spell. The only thing that can kill Landon, Golden Arrow, he got stabbed with it. He didn’t resurrect either, so he could be dead but it’s highly unlikely the case. A tribute to TVD and TO was going to happen in a musical episode of Legacies Season 3, which also didn’t happen in Season 2 because of COVID-19.
Back in May, a rumor popped up on the Internet that Matthew Davis might get fired from the Legacies Cast because of the controversy on Twitter. On 18th April, Matthew tweeted about boycotting China, and how they lied to us. Because of his tweet, he was declared racist and xenophobic. Fans started to attack him on Twitter replies. He also threatened a fan on Twitter but he deleted the tweet later. However, some fans saved the tweet and posted it on Twitter. On seeing this, other cast members of Legacies TV show such as Jenny Boyd(Lizzie), Kaylee Bryant(Josie), Lulu Antariksa (Penelope) unfollowed Matthew Davis on Twitter.

There is also a video of Matthew during a comic-con being inappropriate towards Danielle. Since then, most fans hated Matthew Davis. But most of the fans hate Matthew Davis because he is a trump supporter. Paul Wesley, who played the role of Stefan Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries, also trolled Matthew Davis, on which Matt blocked Paul on Twitter.
