Legacies is a spin-off TV series of The Originals which was a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries. The show first aired back in 2018 after The Originals ended. Legacies revolve around Hope Mikaelson, a tribrid, and the Salvatore School for the gifted. She is also the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson, who died in The Originals so that Hope can live a happy and peaceful life. Alaric Saltzman is running the Salvatore School.
We finally got to see the Salvatore: The Musical! episode which was a tribute to the old cast of The Vampire Diaries. From time to time Legacies has re-introduced the old cast of The Vampire Diaries. Jeremy-Gilbert and Matt Donovan appeared in the Legacies as the guest stars. Kai Parker also appeared as the villain of the series for a while. However, fans hope to see Nina Dobrev as Elena and Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore again In the spin-off series of The Vampire Diaries. Maybe their wish is about to come true since Legacies made a huge reference to Vampire Diaries Elena and Damon.
In the latest episode of Legacies Season 3, Elena and Damon’s reference was featured. It was revealed that Jossie has been staying with Elena and Damon. In the first season, Stefanie Salvatore was also mentioned, daughter of Elena and Damon. However, she has yet to appear in the series. Back in 2019, someone asked Julie plec about Stefanie Salvatore and she replied:
I’d have to figure out why a child of theirs would be supernatural and in boarding school. But it’s on my list of things to think about.
Nina Dobrev in Legacies
Recently, Nina Dobrev posted a story on her Instagram saying “I am set right now for something I can’t talk about”. The story had a Damon Salvatore sticker as well. So, fans believe she is on set of Legacies and is going to appear as Katherine. In her story, she was also showing off the Katherine Wig. However, later it was confirmed that she is on set for her new movie “Love Hard”. The filming was stopped because of Coronavirus. It’s highly unlikely that Nina Dobrev will ever appear in Legacies but anything is possible.
Back in January 2021, Brett Matthews said that the Legacies doors are always open for the old cast of The Vampire Diaries. Ian Somerhalder ruled out the possibility of ever returning to Legacies last year. Brett Matthews said:
There’s always a chance, and if any did, I wouldn’t want to spoil those things. If anybody’s dying to come back and dip a toe back into this universe, just tell them to call me.
