Legacies is a spin-off TV series of the Originals, which is also a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries. The show first aired back in 2018 and is still ongoing. It currently has 2 seasons on the CW. Legacies Season 3 is renewed. CW recently came up with the list in which shows were mentioned which were renewed for another season. Legacies Season 3 was one of them. However, these shows will not be airing in its usual October slot.
The show follows Hope Mikaelson, a tribrid, and Salvatore school for the gifted, ran by Alaric Saltzman. The plot of the show is similar to its prequel TV series, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Hope is the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson, a hybrid, who sacrificed himself in The Originals to protect his daughter.
Legacies Season 2 was cut short because of the Coronavirus pandemic and Season 2 Episode 16 was considered to be the season finale. The season 2 ended with a huge cliffhanger, Hope is still under the sleeping spell and Landon got stabbed by the Golden Arrow. One thing that can actually kill Landon is Golden Arrow and Necromancer made Raf stab Landon with it. While Lizzie played the dead act, Hope managed to fix Josie. However, Necromancer played the long game, Alaric came up with a deal. He transferred the Josie Dark Magic into Necromancer and in return Necromancer revived the people, who died on his watch. The major cliffhanger was, despite the deal Landon remained dead. Hope is also stuck because of this. There are still four episodes left of Season 2, which will air in Legacies Season 3.
We completed it through episode 216 for now. It’s actually a fun accidental season finale with a good cliffhanger.

Legacies Season 3 Release Date
It is pretty obvious Landon won’t die. From the events happened in Legacies Season 2, we can assume the villain of Season 3 is going to be the necromancer. A tribute to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals is going to happen in a musical episode in season 3.

The CW will start its new season in January 2021, when we will launch our regular primetime schedule
Most of the show’s showrunners have stated that they will begin filming in August and September. However, there is nothing on the “Legacies Season 3” filming yet. So, we can assume that it might get delayed.
