Netflix’s biggest show La Casa Da Papel (Money Heist) is over, but Netflix is not done with the show yet. Netflix’s hit Money Heist broke several records when season 5 was released on the streaming platform. According to Netflix, season 5 of the show was watched by 69 million households. Netflix is creating another show based on one of the characters of the show “Berlin”. Also, Netflix released a Korean version of the series this year. The Korean “Money Heist” received mixed reactions from fans and critics.
The upcoming spin-off show “Berlin“ will focus on Berlin’s character and tell us more about the character’s backstory.
The rumors of spin-off shows started when season 5 of the show was released. Alex Pina, the creator of the series has revealed numerous times his plan to expand the Money Hest universe into various characters. Alex Pina told Oprah Daily that the “duality of Money Heist characters” opens the door for future spin-off shows and the fans of the show will watch their favorite characters in “any context“.
Berlin Release Date
Netflix announced the news about the Berlin show in November 2021 near the release date of season 5 part two. Netflix also released an official caption:
“We already met Berlin in#LaCasaDePapeland now is the time for Andrés de Fonollosa. We can already announce that in 2023 the spin-off of his life will arrive.”
The release date of Berlin is not revealed yet but the series is expected to release in 2023.
Netflix Berlin Plot
The series will focus on Andrés de Fonollosa also known by his nickname “Berlin”. Fans immediately fell in love with Berlin’s character of his sense of humor and violent behavior. Even though Berlin’s character died in season 2, some of his backstories were explored in season 5. Berlin has five wives including Tatiana and he also stated in the series that “5 times he believed in love”. Pina shared in an interview with Tudum that the upcoming series is about “love and heist“. According to him, the series will be “a trip throughout the golden years of the character. When he was stealing all over Europe, madly in love.”
The series will also tell us about the early years of Berlin and his brother “The professor“. It will also tell us about how Berlin met Palmero, Bogata, and Marsella.
Cast
Pedro Alonso will be back to reprise his role of “Berlin”. There are some rumors about Alvaro Morte joining the show as he is Berlin’s brother and fans want to see more of them together. Alex Pina said that we will be seeing new characters in the spin-off show. He revealed, “We loved the idea of introducing a new gang around Berlin in a completely different emotional state”. However, it is not confirmed if he will appear in the series. Other cast members include:
