The creators of “Dark” are working on another project for Netflix titled 1899. Netflix 1899 is created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. The upcoming series from dark creators is produced using cutting-edge technology to create thrilling visual effects. VFX studio Framestore studio is behind the creation of the series. The company worked on the production of the shows like The Witcher, The boys, and Wonder Woman 1884. 1899 is filmed with virtual led sets. The show will focus on the linguistic diversity of Europe and has an ensemble cast. We will see characters speaking different languages like German, Polish and French in the series. Also, as the name of the series suggests, the series is a period drama.
Netflix 1899 Release Date
The production of Netflix 1899 started in 2020 and the series was expected to release in 2022. Baran bo Odar revealed on Instagram on November 24, 2020, that production on the series has started. Also, The director shared the behind the scene pictures. Netflix released the first two episodes of the upcoming series at the International Film Festival in September this year However, the series will release on November 17, 2022.
The upcoming series has 8 episodes in season 1. The first episode of the series is “The Ship”.
Plot
The upcoming series is about a migrant ship that leaves Europe for New York. However, the lives of the passengers on ship become hell when they come across another missing ship. Strange and mysterious things start to happen with the passengers on the ship causing fear and panic.
The official synopsis of the series is
“The original series revolves around a migrant steamship heading west to leave the old continent from London to New York. The passengers, a mixed bag of European origins, are united by their hopes and dreams for the new century and their future abroad. When they discover another migrant ship adrift on the open sea, their journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a horrifying nightmare.”
Odar also revealed in an interview that he loved the idea of having a show with a mixed cast from other countries. Also, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese said the show will be multilingual and each actor will speak their own native language.
