Enola Holmes the upcoming Netflix movie has been trending on the internet. Many big names are part of this movie. The main role is played by “Stranger Things” Millie Bobbie Brown. She is famous for playing Eleven in the series. Not only Millie is part of the project. British actors Sam Claflin and Henry Cavill are also included in the movie. The cast of the movie is excellent. However, due to the plot of the movie and characters, the movie received some backlash.
Who is Enola Holmes?
The name might sound similar to you. It is a book series that was inspired by Sherlock Holmes. The writer Nancy Springer did an amazing job and gave us a new perspective about the 19th-century novel. The book series is re-imagination of Sir Arthur Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. But, this time the center of focus will be “Enola Holmes”.
However, the movie is based on books. So we are definitely going to see Enola Holmes’s adventures.
Enola holmes will look for her mother after her disappearance but her brothers will force her to go to boarding school. Like all the girls used to go back in the 19th century to be a proper “lady”. But Enola is intrigued by her mother’s disappearance. She runs away from her home and disguises herself as a perfect lady to stay hidden.
Sherlock Holmes is Misogynist
Harry Bradbeer is the director of the movie. He also believes that Sherlock holmes are a misogynist. However, it was the 19th century, and men used to be like this in the past. It is not shown in modern movies and that is why Arthur Doyle’s state is quite mad at Netflix. He said in an interview;
“There was the fact that there was a sister that people probably hadn’t considered existed.”
“That automatically brings the whole feminist stance and a feminist angle on the Holmes story, which was particularly interesting to me, as Holmes was thought of as being someone who was a little bit of a misogynist,” he said.
Release Date
The movie is all set to release on 23 September 2020. This news was revealed by Netflix on 17th August. But, a cryptic anagram was used to announce the movie.
Netflix captioned the teaser trailer with “alone loshme reeebtpms wnettyrhitd”. When you solve the anagram it becomes Alone Holmes September twenty-third. It was a unique way to announce the project.
Netflix Lawsuit
Netflix is in a little trouble right now because of a lawsuit. Arthur Doyle state is suing Netflix. According to the Doyle state, the film is going to show the side of Sherlock that was revealed much later in the book series. According to them it is disrespecting and ruining the character’s reputation.
But according to the court 19th-century work and art is public domain. But the state is still persistent. However, Netflix is still going to release the movie. It seems like it is a baseless lawsuit.
