One of us is lying is the latest teen mystery/suspense series on Netflix. It is based on the novel of the same name by Karen M. McManus. The series first aired on ‘Peacock‘ on October 7, 2021. The show also aired on Netflix on February 18, 2022. In January, One of us is lying Season 2 was renewed.
Like other teen shows on Netflix (13 Reasons Why, Elite, Riverdale). One of us is lying also follows high-school drama. The story revolves around Bayview High. Five students walk into detention. However, one student dies (Simon). The series is currently in the top 10 on Netflix in many countries.
“Detention brings together five disparate high schoolers, but a killing — and secrets — keep them together as a cat-and-mouse murder mystery unfolds.”
The plot revolves around finding the murderer, who murdered Simon. Simon owned a blog/app where he posted the secrets of his fellow schoolmates. Students hated him for that. Police suspected the other four students who were in the detention because they all had motives and reasons to kill Simon. So four of them decided to investigate the murder on their own. After Simon died, someone else started to post the secrets online. All four students’ secrets were revealed. In the last episode, after so many twists, the killer was revealed. The four students became really good friends during the investigation.
The show is not available on Netflix Canada yet. However, the series is available on Netflix UK, India, Brazil, and many other regions.
Netflix One Of Us Is Lying Season 2 Release Date
The show was renewed for a second season in January. However, it aired on Netflix in February. No release date has been announced by Netflix yet. The series will air on Netflix after the second season releases on the Peacock network.
Plot
It was revealed that Addy’s boyfriend Jake was behind everything. Even though he was not in the murder club. He was a childhood friend of Simon. After Simon revealed the secret of Addy that she cheated on him with TJ. Jake decided to take revenge and frame all four of them for the murder of Simon. It was supposed to be a prank, well that is what Simon thought, Jake had something else in mind. They planned everything using their Xboxes.
In the end, the gang caught Jake. However, Jake brought a gun to kill them. During the fight, someone ended up pulling the trigger and Jake died. Nobody knows who did it. However, someone knows what happened that night. As the gang thought, they got away, they receive a text. In season 2, they will have to find out who is behind that text before it’s too late.
The sequel will be based on the sequel book named “One Of Us Is Next”. There is a time-jump of one year in that book.
