Netflix First Egyptian Horror Series “Paranormal”

Netflix is all set to release another horror series on the platform. After the success of shows like Haunting of Hill house, haunting of Bly Manor, Netflix has a lot in store for us when it comes to horror movies. However, the upcoming series is going to be the first Egyptian series on the platform. Netflix is known as a diverse platform on which you can find content from all around the world. Shows like Dark and Money Heist also have a huge fan following in America and in other countries as well, so the creators are expecting it will become a hit as well.

Paranormal will be the first project from Egypt on Netflix. The show will be translated into 9 languages as well. This will allow people all around the world to watch the series in their own language making this series more appealing to all the viewers all around the world.

The show was filmed in Egypt. The showrunner and director of the show Amr Salama said this about the show:

“It was my dream to adapt Paranormal of the late author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik and turn it into a drama since I ever wanted to be a filmmaker. I’m proud to present the books in a new light while still keeping the essence of the Paranormal. I can’t wait to introduce these exciting stories to the Netflix public in 190 countries around the world.”

Mohamed Hefzy, the producer of the show said this about the show as well:

“I’m also excited to be cooperating again with long-time collaborator and friend, director Amr Salama. Together with Netflix, we aim to present a show of international quality and that lives up to the promises and ambitions of Egyptian and Arabic drama.”

Ahmed Khaled Tawfik is the writer of the book. He wrote 81 books in this book series. The books are based on the journey of a doctor named Refaat Ismail who specializes in blood analysis. His faith will start to shake when he will discover some mysteries and all kinds of horrific creatures. Maggie Mckillop, his Scottish colleague will also be part of the journey. Together they will fight against the demons to save their loved ones from the dangers.

The books were quite famous in Egypt even after the death of the writer. Netflix had this idea for a while now but due to the other productions and projects, it took so long for Netflix to release this project. However, Egyptian fans are excited as this is going to be the first Egyptian Netflix series on the platform.

There is a trailer of the series available on Youtube as well. The trailer has already 500k views on the official trailer of the series. When the trailer opens, we see Dr. Refaat Ismail was seen chasing by the ghosts of children, hearing voices of children in the dark. A woman was also screaming after seeing another world creature.

Release Date

The series will release on 5th November. The show was first announced in May 2020, But due to the coronavirus pandemic the filming of the show was stopped.
