Netflix’s Tall Girl is getting a sequel. The first movie was a huge hit on the platform as well. The first movie got more than 40 million views in just the first week of its release. Even though the first movie got a lot of criticism for its plot, fans are still excited about the sequel. The first film was about a 6 foot, 1.5 inches tall girl named, Jodi. she faced many challenges and difficulties throughout her life because of her height. But, things change for her when an exchange student from Sweden comes to her school. The actress Ava Michelle is really 6 ft tall in her real life as well. She revealed in an interview with Vogue about her struggles;
“My height was really hard for me growing up. Like, I was 5-foot-10 at 13. I was really, really tall,” Ava says. “In the business that I was in, and even just being in school, I was made fun of, and it was really difficult. But ironically, I got my first huge [acting gig] partly because of the thing I hated about myself for so long.”
Tall Girl 2 Release Date
Tall Girl 2 will release on February 11, 2022, on Netflix. The first movie was released back in 2019. Netflix needs new content to fill the teenage romance slot after both Kissing Booth and To All the Boys I have Loved before ended.
Plot
According to the official synopsis of the plot of the movie is:
“After her inspiring speech at the homecoming dance, Jodi is no longer just the ‘tall girl’ – she’s popular, confident, has a boyfriend, and just booked the lead role in this year’s school musical, But as the pressure of her newfound popularity intensifies, so do her insecurities, and new relationships are formed while old ones are tested. As the world she built starts to crumble around her, Jodi realizes that standing tall was only just the beginning.”
In the first movie, Jodi left Stig to be with Jack. There is also a new love interest “Tommy” in the sequel. We will also see Stig’s sister in the sequel as well. However, Jack will struggle to be with his girlfriend Jodi because of her newly found fame at school.
Cast
All the previous cast members from the first movie will be in the sequel. Ava Michelle will return for the sequel, who plays Jodi in the movie. Sabrina Carpenter is also included in the sequel as Jodi’s sister Harper. Griffin Gluck will also return to play Jodi’s love interest, Jack. Luke Eisner will return as Stig Mohlin as well. There will be new actors to play new characters in the movie as well.
