Netflix is working on a new Sherlock Holmes spin-off series “Netflix The Irregulars”. Netflix has already released “Enola Holmes” and it proved to be the biggest hit on the platform. But, it seems like Netflix is not done with Canon Doyle’s story yet. Netflix is releasing another project named “The Irregulars”. The group of teenagers used to help Dr.Watson and Sherlock Holmes in solving crimes as well. The show is going to follow their story. Netflix broke the news of the upcoming show recently. They released teasers and now a full trailer.

Tom Bidwell, the creator of the show, has reimagined the story. He changed the group of teenagers into older teens to make the show more fun and thrilling to watch. The group helped Sherlock and Dr.Watson in solving some mysteries when they could not. However, we are going to see their story for the first time on the big screens.

They are going to save London from dark and magical threats. Tom Bidwell said this in an interview:

“Our story focuses on the Irregulars, the gang themselves. It’s their story, their adventure, Sherlock Holmes is in the story, it’s his world, but he’s not the central focus. He plays a big part of it, don’t get me wrong, but it’s about the kids and their journeys.”

Tom Bidwell has made some changes in the story. He admitted that he did not want to create another show based on the Victorian Era with a boring plot.

“We set out with that intention, why can’t they go into what is predominantly a man’s world and kick a bit of ass?”

He continued:

“I wanted to stay away from things that are classic period Victorian, more like Dickensian stuff. I wanted to make it feel exciting and scary and very, very fresh so these characters are very accessible to a modern audience. They have problems that we have, they don’t speak in a period way, they speak to each other in a more contemporary way than you would probably expect from a Victorian adaptation.”

But, he showed his fear of bringing something new and challenging on the big screens. He showed his fear that it is tough to bring the horror element of the story on the screens.

Magical and Horror story

He said in the interview:

The supernatural element brings a kind of Victorian horror to the show that’s very different to what you’d expect in the Sherlock Holmes novels,” he says. “Because sometimes I’m reading the Sherlock Holmes novels and I end up wishing that those [supernatural-seeming elements] were real. [Laughs] In our show, the mysteries can be solved, but they can’t be very easily explained with rational thought — there’s monsters and ghouls and horrors attacking the city of London.”
