Netflix released the trailer of the upcoming star-studded teenage movie “Do Revenge” starring Camilia Mendes and Maya Hawke. The upcoming Netflix movie is directed and co-written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Robbinson is known for directing the Netflix movie “Someone Great” which became a hit and received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics.
Netflix released the trailer of the upcoming movie on August 4.
According to Tudum, the plot of the upcoming movie is;
The Strangers on a Train–esque thriller follows what happens after a clandestine meet-cute between fallen it-girl Drea (Mendes) and beta, new alt-girl Eleanor (Hawke). Together, the two girls go after each other’s tormentors.
According to the trailer, Eleanor wants to take revenge on a woman by “burning her to the ground” and Drea wants to take revenge on a “fake-woke, misogynist hypocrite.” Also, the upcoming dark comedy movie is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s “Strangers on the Train”.
However, According to Robinson the plot of the movie is not what it seems;
“I think there are different points where everyone’s the villain and everyone’s the hero in this story, And that is so much of what growing up is. I wanted to make something that paints with all the colors of adolescence.”
Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke will be playing the lead roles in the movie. It is Maya Hawke’s second project with the streaming platform. Hawke appears as “Robin Buckley” on Stranger Things. The actress will also appear in Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City”. However, there is no news about her role in the movie yet. Mendes has also appeared in numerous Netflix projects (Dangerous Lies, Palm Springs, Riverdale).
The upcoming Netflix film has a star-studded cast. Sophia Turner(Game of Thrones) and Alisha Boe ( 13 reasons why) will also appear in the upcoming movie. Other cast members include Rish Shah, Talia Ryder, Ava Capri, Jonathan Daviss, Maia Reficco, and Paris Berelc
Jennifer Kaytin Robbinson also joked about the star-studded cast in her interview with ELLE magazine;
We joke that they are like the young Hollywood Avengers,” Robinson says. And because of that, the cast gave themselves their own nickname. “They call themselves ‘The Revengers,’ which we love.” But they weren’t just cast because they’re “teen royalty”, they just are all really talented. And they were the best people for these parts.”.
Robbinson’s last project “Someone great” featured Lizzo’s song “Truth Hurts” which was essential for the movie. Robbinson also has a perfect song for the upcoming film, a score by Esta Haim (Haim the band) produced by Rob Lowry.
