Never Have I Ever Season 4: Will Paxton Return?

Netflix Never have I Ever season 3 was released on August,12 and fans are already asking questions about season 4. Netflix announced the news of seasons 3 and 4 in March 2021. Also, the streaming service revealed that Never Have I Ever Season 4 will be the final season of the show. Mindy Kaling spoke to Entertainment Weekly about why she thinks four seasons are enough to tell the story of Devi Vishwakumar;

“Four seasons for a high school show felt like it made sense, They can’t be in high school forever. We’ve seen those shows. Like, you’ve been in high school for 12 years. What is going on here? Also, the actors get older and it starts looking insane that a 34-year-old is playing a 15-year-old.”

she continued;

“The truth is, we got to know the characters,” she continued, noting how natural the ending of the show feels. “The great thing about doing it on Netflix is that we got to tell stories that you wouldn’t necessarily be able to tell in traditional network shows and so we feel good. We really told the story of this 15-year-old girl and that felt like the perfect amount of time.”

Never Have I Ever Season 4 Release Date

According to Elle, the filming of the Never Have I Ever Season 4 wrapped in August 2022. So, it means that the show will premier in 2023. The cast celebrated the end of the production of the series with a carnival and emotional speeches. Netflix has not announced the official release date for the series yet.

Plot

Season 3 of the show ended with a cliffhanger. Devi decided to hook up with Ben after her Indian boyfriend “Des” broke up with her. Fans are excited to see Ben and Devi finally getting back together now that Paxton is going to college in Arizona. But, according to Lang Fisher, Paxton is not out of the picture yet. She told Entertainment Weekly magazine that Paxton will return for season 4;

“The love triangle’s not done,” Lang told EW. “In season 4, it continues onward. But I think the part that is done is seeing him as this unattainable dream of a hunk. He is no longer that, and they can be more like peers going forward.” Guess that’s a confirmation for both Darren and Jaren. You can always sign us up for more Daxton-Bevi drama!

She told Elle that Devi will have to make a choice between Paxton and Ben;

“There is a choice. [Devi] makes a choice…The winner wins,” Lang said. “The only problem with it is — now I’m learning, as we’re making season 4 — I’m like, ‘One team is going to be real mad at me.’” Team Paxton and Team Ben… get ready.

Jaren Lewison, who plays Ben in the show, told Elle that season 4 is the best season of the show;

“I think the way the writers approached this fourth season has been with such care and with such tenacious and meticulous planning that I think we all feel comforted by the fact that it was a perfect sendoff,”. He continued;

“This fourth season is perfect.”

Cast

Devi’s cousin Kamala and her teacher Manish aka Mr. K will return for the fourth season as they got pretty close in season 3. Devi’s grandmother Nirmala Vishwakumar played by Ranjita Chakravarty and Devi’s mother (Poorna Jagannathan) and her deceased father Mohan (Sendhil Ramamurthy) will also appear in the final season. Ben and Paxton will also return as Devi’s love interests.

However, Des( Anirudh Pisharody ) and his mother Nirmala will not return for the last season. Pisharody revealed this news in his interview with People magazine. The actor also told the magazine that he is starting a production company with his wife;

“When you’re just starting out and acting and directing, producing, you’re not given any opportunity. You just have to go out and do it for yourself,” he says. “So it really stemmed from just making content for yourself and making the vision that you have for a project really come alive because the phone just wasn’t ringing, so to speak.”
