How to Fix Controller not Working in Redfall

Redfall Review – What’s Good and What’s Bad!

Redfall is an open-world, co-op FPS published by Bethesda and developed by Arkane Austin. The game is set in the vampire overrun island town of Redfall, Massachusetts. These man-made vampires block out the sun and cut off the town’s residents from the outside world.

Especially powerful vampires declare themselves gods human cultists worship. Your job is to band together with the surviving resistance to kill as many vampires as you can and solve the mystery behind their appearance.

That said, is the game actually good? This Redfall Review will tell you everything you need to know.

Redfall Review

What’s Good About the Game?

Rich Characters

There are four characters to choose from. Jacob Boyer, Devinder ‘Dev’ Crousley, Remi De La Rosa, and Layla Ellison. Each vampire hunter boasts special skills and abilities complementing the others.

Jacob is a sniper with an “Undead Eye” that boosts his targeting abilities, a cloaking device, and an ethereal raven to distract foes at close range. Dev is an inventor making his own anti-vampire weapons like his UV staff.

Remi is a robotics engineer using her robot companion Bribón as both a distraction and attack drone. While Layla has telekinetic powers that let her move objects, generate shields, reload guns, and more.

Fun Vampire-Hunting

When a game is all about vampire hunting, it’s important for that to be fun. Redfall doesn’t disappoint. Your weapons range from conventional firearms to unique DIYs. But to actually kill a vampire, you must drive a wooden stake through its heart. Most guns in the game have wooden bayonets for this reason. There is also a stake launcher to let you one-hit vamps from afar.

And if you don’t have a stake handy, there are other ways. You can ignite nearby oil slicks to light vamps on fire. Set up livewire traps. Or use a UV emitter gun and shatter the resulting temporary stone statues. Vamps aren’t also your only enemy in the game. You need to kill their human worshipers as well.

Beautiful Environment

As expected of Arkane Austin, Redfall features beautiful interior spaces staged as if to tell a story. You can use the detailed environment to bait enemies into traps. And with the open-world nature of the game, you are only more motivated to explore these places.

What’s Bad About the Game?

The biggest complaint so far seems to be that the game isn’t designed for solo play. You get overwhelmed by hordes of enemies as a single player, and the characters aren’t designed to work alone. There also seem to be some generic gameplay loops.

Conclusion

If you read our Redfall Review, you’ll know this vampire-hunting game has rich characters, fun mechanics, and a beautiful environment. The open world nature of the game gives you the freedom to hop between the main storyline and interesting side quests. So play your way and happy gaming!
