Riverdale is a teen-mystery drama that is currently airing on CW and Netflix. There are currently six seasons of the show. Moreover, Riverdale Season 7 was also renewed. The seventh season of the series is going to be the final season.
The show is based on Archie Comics, which started airing back in 2017. Because of the cast, the show quickly got famous. Back In May, CW announced that the upcoming season is going to be the last. The show started as a murder mystery but now it has introduced supernatural and alternate realities.
The creator of the show, Aguirre-Sacasa always wanted a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale Crossover. It was supposed to happen in the next season of CAOS, but Netflix canceled the show. However, this was made possible in Riverdale. Kiernan Shipka, who played the role of Sabrina, reprised her role as Sabrina Spellman in Riverdale Season 6.
Riverdale Season 7 Release Date
There is no release date for Riverdale Season 7 announced yet by CW. However, according to them, the show is set to release in 2023. The filming of the upcoming season is currently ongoing. On September 28, show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased season 7 production “And AWAY! WE! GO! It’s back to the 1950s for Season Seven of #Riverdale! And everything’s FINE, Darlings. 🚀🎢💄🖼️💥👛🕷️🐍🌹🍒🍔🍿🥤⛹🏻🎭🎟️☠️☠️☠️”
He also revealed the title of the first episode “Don’t Worry, Darling.” CW has yet to confirm the number of episodes of Riverdale Season 7.
We have not declared how many episodes yet. But I do not believe it will be a shortened season. It goes back to what I said earlier: I am a big believer in attempting to give series that have had long runs an appropriate send off.
Plot
Riverdale Season 6 ended on a cliffhanger. Cheryl absorbed everyone’s power and used it to destroy Bailey’s Comet and saved everyone in Riverdale. However, in doing so, everyone traveled back to the 1950s and only Jughead seems to remember what happened. In an interview, Lili Reinhart, who plays the role of Betty Cooper, said:
“Our season is taking place in the ‘50s, which is very fun. I think it kind of gives our last season a very refreshing take on these characters and seeing them in just kind of like a new exciting way. I think the fans who have been along for the ride since Season 1 are going to really appreciate our ending.“
Not much has been revealed yet about Riverdale Season 7. In an interview, the showrunner said: “Jughead remembers everything that happened. And I think our characters, whether they’re conscious or not, have an emotional memory of what they’ve been through… It is still in continuity.”
