Shazam 2 Release Date, Plot and Cast

Shazam released in early 2019, it instantly became a hit and a fan-favorite movie. It earned 366 million dollars at the box office. People were not expecting that much from the movie but surely amazed everyone. Now DC is going to give us a sequel as well. The movie impressed the viewers with its sweet, thrilling, and comic plot.

The extended DC universe has a lot of great titles that are going to be released this year and next year as well. These titles include “Aquaman 2“, Suicide Squad, and The Flash.

The title of Shazam 2 is “Shazam : The God of fury”.

Release Date

Shazam 2 is going to hit cinemas on November 4, 2022. The filming of the movie just started this month. Ross Butler posted a post on Instagram which is a clear sign that the filming of the sequel has started.

Shazam 2 Plot

It is hard to guess the plot of the upcoming Shazam 2. They keep the details about the plot real private before the movie hits theatres. but, judging from how the first movie ended on a cliffhanger.  Evil space worm Mister mind and Dr. Sivana work together and try to take over the seven magical realms known as the Magiclands. Shazam will save the day once again. But, this time his entire Shazam family will help him rather than his young sidekick Freddy.

Cast

Warner Bros has not confirmed yet about the full cast of the movie yet. But, we are definitely going to see all the important characters from the previous movie in the sequel. Asher Angel is going to reprise his role of Billy Baston. He was 15 when they filmed the first Shazam. Asher is 18 and it might be tough to play someone younger. Zachary Levi is also going to return for his role of Shazam.

Zachary Levi is one of the best things about the movie. He did a good job as Shazam. But, he was not always confident about the success of the movie. He said this during an interview;

“Per the comic books, Black Adam and Captain Marvel – my true namesake – they’re yin and yang to one another. They are identical. It’s actually why I didn’t think I even had a chance of getting this job. He was already cast as Black Adam, I knew enough to know that Captain Marvel/Shazam and Black Adam were basically doppelgängers, just with a slightly different color scheme and haircut. I was like, ‘No one’s gonna hire me to be The Rock’s twin. don’t think this is going to work out.’”

Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Grace Fulton, Michelle Borth, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, and Ian Chen are returning for their roles.
