Netflix is working on a new project with the Russo brothers. The Electric State starring Millie Bobbie Brown as the lead character “Michelle“. The electric state is based on a graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag.
In 2020, it was announced that Universal pictures had landed rights to the upcoming movie “The electric state”. AGBO production came up with the idea in 2017. The production company is owned by the Russo brother and it is famous for its projects like “Stranger Things”, “Extraction” and “The Gray-man”. Furthermore, Joe and Anthony Russo will direct the upcoming movie and AGBO will produce the project.
But, universal studio announced recently that they will not release the movie in theatres. However, the creators want to release the movie on Netflix.
AGBO has worked on numerous projects with Netflix and is also currently working on some new ones. The upcoming movie “The Whisper man” starring “Bridgerton” Regé-Jean Page will also release on Netflix.
Plot
The movie will follow the plot of the graphic novel. According to Simon Stålenhag’s official website the synopsis of the movie is;
In late 1997, a runaway teenager and her small yellow toy robot travel west through a strange American landscape where the ruins of gigantic battle drones litter the countryside, along with the discarded trash of a high-tech consumerist society addicted to a virtual-reality system.
The book is similar to Stranger Things. Stranger things have become one of the most famous shows on Netflix. The streaming platform wants to create more hit fantasy/adventure shows for its audience. Millie Bobbie Brown’s fans are excited to see her another project similar to Stranger Things. Brown is also associated with other upcoming Netflix projects like “Enola Homes 2″ and the “Girls I have been”.
The Electric State Release date
There is no news about the release date of The Electric State yet. The filming of the movie will start in October 2022. The shooting of the movie will take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
Cast
Millie Bobbie Brown will play the lead role in The Electric State. The movie is still in the development phase so there is no new information regarding the cast of the movie yet. However, Christopher Markus, who is writing the script for the upcoming movie revealed in an interview that the major characters of the movie are “women”;
“This is a very human story about a teenage girl with all the powers of a teenage girl and nothing more, another thing we are really proud of when it comes to this story is all the major characters, barring one supporting character, are women which is super exciting to be involved in.”
We can expect to see some familiar roles in the project. There are rumors that other cast members from “Stranger Things” might join Brown for the upcoming movie.
