Mike Flanagan is working on another series with Netflix. Mike Flanagan is well-known for his Netflix projects “The Haunting of the Hill House, “The Haunting of Bly Manor” and “Midnight Mass”. He also worked outside of Netflix on many well-known movies like Oculus, Gerald’s Game, Hush, and Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep.
His new project “Midnight Mass” was also a hit at the streaming platform. Midnight Mass is about an island community and how their life changes after a young and mysterious priest arrive at the island. Stranger supernatural incidents occur after his arrival. The show is trending in the top 10 at the streaming giant.
The upcoming project “The Midnight Club” is not related to Midnight Mass. The upcoming show is not the sequel of Midnight Mass. The viewers will see a different type of horror story in the upcoming Netflix project.
Plot
The Midnight Club is based on Christopher Pike’s young adult novel of the same name. The book follows the story of a group of seven terminally ill teenagers. They live in Rotterdam Home hospice center and they gather every midnight to tell each other stories. The teens decide to make a pact in which if the first member of the group dies from their disease must communicate with the other six beyond the grave. But, things become strange when one of the friends dies and supernatural incidents start to happen.
Season one of the show will have 10 episodes. The episodes will be one hour long just like his previous Netflix series.
The show also has elements from Christopher Spike’s other books. You will see a lot of elements from your favorite Christopher Pikes book in the upcoming show. The creator of the show revealed the news in his tweets. He tweeted;
“Oh, and for you fellow Pike fans out there… the article is correct, we will be incorporating a lot of his books into the series. So whatever your favorite Pike book is, there’s a chance it’ll be part of the show.”
The Midnight Club Release Date
There is no news about the release date of the show yet. The filming of the show ended on September 10, 2021. However, the show is expected to release in spring 2022. Mike Flanagan is excited about the upcoming show. He revealed in his tweet that it was his childhood dream to create this project.
In his tweet he said:
I began brainstorming an adaptation of THE MIDNIGHT CLUB as a teenager, so this is a dream come true. It’s an honor to introduce a new generation of young horror fans to the world of Christopher Pike.
Cast
It is Mike Flanagan’s first time working with a young cast. But, we will see his beloved actors that also appeared in his other Netflix projects. Igby Rigney, Annarah Cymone play two of the teens, while Zach Gilford, Samantha Sloyan, and Matt Biedel recurring roles in the upcoming series. Other cast members include Benson, Adia, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Sauriyan Sapkota, and Heather Langenkamp.
