Netflix is making its way in action movies. 6 underground and the extraction were one of the best action movies by Netflix. However, Charlize Theron’s action flick was supposed to be a small movie on Netflix. The Old Guard is the latest trending film on Netflix.
The movie is filled with action and has a thrilling plot. The old guard is based on a graphic novel by Greg Ruka. It is ranking number 1 right now in the USA. Also, the movie is trending in many other countries.
Charlie Theron gained a lot of praise for her 2018 movie “Atomic Blonde”. She appeared in the new Netflix action flick and everybody is talking about her.
The movie is based on 5 immortal assassins and how they have to hide from the world. However, the concept is not new. There are already many movies like it present in Hollywood. Marvel Universe is almost based on the immortal superheroes. But, it was Charlize and Kiki Layne’s amazing acting skills that captured the audience’s attention.
The Old Guard Sequel Possibility
The extraction might be getting a sequel but fans are also curious if they would make a sequel of the old guard as well.
Gina Prince-Bythewood who Is the director of the movie seems optimistic about the future of the movie. She thinks there could be a sequel. She shared her thoughts in an interview about the sequel:
“The graphic novel itself is a trilogy,” she said. “Where the story goes is pretty phenomenal, so if the audience is for it, I think we are as well.”
What is the sequel is going to be about?
Brooker was caught betraying and he was exiled. He was also approached by another Old Guard Quynh. Veronica Ngo played the role. The movie ended on a cliffhanger. It seems like a big yes for the sequel.

Gina also said in her interview with Collider:
It was part of the graphic novel, and I always loved it because I felt there would have been a hole if it didn’t end the way it did. There’s always a fear because you don’t want to annoy an audience. I know how I feel when things are left open, but for me, we told the story. It does have a beginning, middle, and end.
She continued saying:
A possibility of more, but that’s absolutely up to the audience. Greg has always envisioned this as a trilogy. I know where the story is going and it’s pretty dope. So, if the audience wants more, there’s certainly more story to tell.
Gina Prince-Bythewood is not going to direct The Old Guard Sequel.
According to her, she is going to rest for a while. Gina wants to take a break after working on the old guard. She said in an interview;
“It’s been two years, and just coming out of it now, I’m eager for a rest.”
Release Date
Netflix is working on the extraction’s sequel right now. So the sequel of the old guard might take some time. But by the popularity of the movie, it seems like they are also eager for the sequel.
