Netflix's The Sandman Season 2 Reportedly Renewed

Netflix’s The Sandman Season 2 Reportedly Renewed

The Sandman arrived on Netflix on 5th August 2022. The series is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The graphic novel has a huge fan base. Recently, DC Comics tweeted that we’ll get more episodes of Netflix’s “The Sandman” series. However, the tweet is now deleted. Netflix recently renewed and canceled many shows but Sandman was not on the list. DC Comics Tweeted “The Dream continues. Netflix Sandman will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novels to explore even more stories of the Endless.” Netflix and Neil Gaiman both confirmed that the Sandman is renewed for a second season.

Netflix's The Sandman Season 2 Reportedly Renewed

Back in September, Neil Gaiman confirmed that the season 2 script is ready. The teaser concluded with “The Dream Continues” which pretty much confirms that season 2 is in the making. According to WhatsOnNetflix:

The Sandman Season 2 Release Date

The renewal is now official, confirmed by Netflix. Fate: The Winx Saga got canceled after two seasons even though the show performed well on Netflix. So, fans expected that Sandman also got canceled. Neil Gaiman debunked the cancelation rumors on Twitter. He said “Just think. Now even parody/scam sites click-baiting false news will be able to buy blue ticks. What fun it will be.”

Season one of the show only covered 400 pages of a 3000-page arc. Season one covered Preludes and Nocturnes” and “The Doll’s House” and there is a lot of material left. However, Season 2 of the series might be about “Season of the mist” the fourth volume of The Sandman. In the fourth volume of the comics, all of Dream’s siblings except “Destruction” gather for an Endless family meeting, and Dream is teased by his sibling “Desire” for banishing his lover “Nada” to hell. However, Dream decides to rescue Nada but ends up with the responsibility of “Hell” as Lucifer is tired of the duty and hands his realm to Dream.

Heinberg hinted that we might be getting another Dream VS Lucifer duel in season 2:

“The end of episode one, if we move forward, is Dream saying to Matthew, ‘I’m going to Hell and I may not come back, So then episode two begins with the rematch between Dream and Lucifer. It’s so juicy! I’m so looking forward to doing something entirely different with Gwendoline’s look. I don’t want to spoil the surprises for people who haven’t read Season of Mists, but that’s where Dream’s trouble really begins.”
