The Serpent is an 8 episodes long limited series on Netflix and BBC One. The series has been trending on the platform for a while now. Tahar Rhim did an incredible job in portraying Charles. Netflix miniseries and limited series are doing better than the other shows. Queen’s Gambit, Behind her eyes, and other limited series have done better at the platform. The costume design, the locations, and the whole 70’s setting make the show interesting to watch.
Tahir Rahim is getting a lot of praise for his role. He played the role with a lot of dedication. Tahar’s performance was realistic. He is one of the reasons for the success of the show. The creators wanted to create a movie based on Charles’s life in 2001. But, 20 years later they decided to create a series instead.
He said during the interview:
Yeah, I always wanted to explore evil in a character. When you’re an actor, the challenge is to find characters that are very distant from your true nature. I was scrolling down and I read Charles Sobhraj, I’m like, “Whoa.” So, I called my agent and I told him about it, about the book, the story
He continued:
He wanted to call them to tell them, I’m like, “No, wait, let me meet them and talk with them directly.” That’s what happened, the director, Tom Shankland, would tell me later on that he said to his fellow writer, Richard, he said, “If he is lying, he is the right guy because I believed him,” and I’m like, “Man, I didn’t lie, I really read it.”
What is The Serpent about?
The show is about a Eurasian serial killer Charles Sobhraj. He kills travelers and innocent people for their passports and money. He enjoys escaping situations. The show focuses on his friends and his lover Marie-Andree Leclerc. He was finally caught by a diplomat in Thailand.
The Serpent Season 2 Release Date
Charles’s whole story was revealed in the firsts season of the show. He was seen serving time in the first season. It seems like there is not going to be a second season of the show. However, they might come up with a new story for The Serpent Season 2. But, nothing is confirmed yet. The whole story was completed in the first season. It seems like there are fewer chances for The Serpent Season 2.
