Why Cole Sprouse was not in the Friends Reunion Episode?

Friend’s reunion was the highlight of 2021. Everyone was waiting for the reunion episode. But, fans of the show were disappointed when “Paul Rudd” and “Cole Sprouse”. Paul Rudd played “Mike” Pheboe’s husband and Cole Sprouse played “Ben Geller” on the show. A lot of characters were not included in the reunion. Everyone expected Cole Sprouse in the reunion. But, sadly he was not included.

Why Cole Sprouse was not in a Friends Reunion Episode?

Fans demanded answers on Twitter about Cole Sprouse’s absence from the reunion. The director of HBO max Ben Winston revealed about Cole’s absence:

“Well, we couldn’t have everybody on, because it’s only an hour and 45 minutes. And you’ve got to pay attention — the main nub of the show has got to be about the six cast members,” Winston said. “So you can’t have too many cameos because of course, there were hundreds of amazing people who were in ‘Friends’ over the years. Sadly, we couldn’t get everybody in.”

Friend’s had big names from “Hollywood”, actors like “Winona Ryder”, “Robin Williams”, “Reese Witherspoon” and more made appearances on the show. Of course, it was impossible for the studio to invite all these amazing actors to the reunion episode. But, still, the answer did not stop fans from speculating.

Paul Rudd felt like a “prop” on the show.

Paul Rudd has always been very vocal about his experience with the show. He revealed during his interview with Chris Evans on “actors on actors” that he felt like “props”.

“In something like Friends, the show was about them, but it’s an interesting thing to be a part of. I was only in it for just a blip. I felt, ‘I’m like a prop on this show. It’s not about Mike Hannigan’. But there’s a very interesting feeling to be a part of something that has that kind of profound impact on pop culture,” he said.

He also revealed that the creators only had plans for two episodes for the character, but they ended but writing more for the character.

“I have really fond memories but doing that many episodes? That was news to me,” he said.“It was never the original idea. I only ever signed on for two episodes but they kept writing more and had more ideas for that character, so it was certainly exciting – but it was a strange phenomenon to work with this very well-established and highly regarded group of people known all over the world.”
