How to Find Ship-Building Errors

Starfield gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to building your own ship, but this freedom also has downsides. Unless you are an actual space engineer, you are going to make mistakes when it comes to things like mobility or the power required.

Luckily, the developers foresaw this happening and have included a ship-building error system that points such mistakes out. Let’s discuss how exactly to use this system to see the errors you’ve made and how to fix them.

Open Ship Building Screen

The first thing you want to do when looking for ship-building errors is to enter the ship-building screen. From there, look at the bottom of the screen. You’ll see a bunch of stats under categories like shield, jump range, mobility, etc.

If you’ve got errors in your ship building, the affected stat will be colored red. Errors pile up once you’re too creative with your ship design. These errors may also have warnings like “Low Mobility” or “Multiple Reactors.”

You also see the number of errors in red on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, above the stats.

Go to Flight Check

To see what exactly is wrong with your ship, you need to go to flight check. You can see the option to do this at the bottom of the ship building screen, above the stats. You can also do this by pressing the ‘C’ key on a PC.

Inside the flight check menu, you’ll get a pop-up window on the right-hand side of your screen. You’ll see the exact error and the reason for the error in red here under the messages tab. You will also get alerts for things that aren’t errors but can be improved for better performance in yellow.

How to Fix Ship Building Errors

Once you know what the error is, it isn’t that difficult to fix it. The game even tells you what to do to fix most errors.

For example, if the game gives you an error because your ship is too heavy to grav jump, it will also suggest you fix this problem by reducing your ship’s mass or increasing its grav jump thrust. How exactly you go about reducing your ship’s mass or increasing its grav jump thrust is entirely up to you.

Conclusion

Head over to your ship building screen and enter flight check. Here, you’ll see your ship’s errors in the messages tab pop-up on the right-hand side of the screen. We hope this guide on How to Find Errors While Building Ships in Starfield helps. As always, happy gaming!
