Stephanie Meyers Twilight is returning to small screens. According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, a TV series is in early development at Lionsgate TV. The original Twilight Franchise is based on the books by Stephanie Meyers of the same name. The original movie launched the careers of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner in 2008.

There is no writer or director related to the project yet. Also, it is unclear which streaming platform will be home to the upcoming series.

In 2021, the Twilight movie series had a renaissance as the movie was added to Netflix which increased the popularity of the movie all over again. Two of the members from the famous K-pop band NCT also dressed up as Bella and Edward for Halloween. Also, the Disney star Olivia Rodrigo announced that she has written a “Twilight” inspired song.

Kristen Stewart also shared her thoughts about the Twilight Renaissance in an interview with Entertainment Tonight;

“I had no idea, [but] it’s great, I saw that it was on Netflix… like, it was on there while I was looking through. Dude, it’s weird because it feels incredibly far away and also still not that far away from me and my time in this film. I don’t know… On one hand, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m old, my God, I did this five minutes ago. And now it’s like 10-year anniversary.’ I’m like, wow, I have to go to my high school anniversary already.”

Lionsgate is also working on the new Hunger Games movie. Also, earlier this month it was announced that there is going to be a reboot series for Harry Porter at Max.

The plot of the series will follow the original books by author Stephanie Meyers. The first four originals movies followed the books, Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. However, the author released Life and Death: Twilight reimagined with a gender swap in 2016 and The Midnight Sun in 2020, a companion novel that tells the story of the first book from Edward’s POV. So, there is a possibility that we might see one of the newer books being part of the reboot TV series.

However, the TV series will follow the source material as the movies did. Stephanie Meyers is also going to be heavily involved with the series.

The news of the TV series has already sparked excitement and speculation about what the storyline will entail and which characters will be included. There is no news about the cast of the series yet.
