But, as with everything else, the CSGO support finally ended on 27th September 2023, replaced by CS2. Can you play CSGO after release of CS2, just like other Counter Strikes? CSGO Servers Shutting Down

As already mentioned CSGO has been officially replaced by CS2, which means that all the servers for the CSGO are now offline. Those servers were slowly updated to new ones and used specifically for CS2.

This means that you won’t be able to experience CSGO matchmaking ever again in your life.

Why is CSGO Not Available?

The real reason has to do with the Counter-Strike Global Offensive getting an overhaul, like matchmaking, graphics, engine, mechanics, and other things. Therefore, they removed the Global Offensive from the game, and provided us with a Counter-Strike 2, based on the Source 2 Engine.

The latter one is still using the same servers but with an upgrade and name change on top. Therefore, CSGO is not available on Steam anymore.

Can You Still Play CSGO, after CS2?

No, because of the servers shutting down completely, CSGO is not available on Steam, rather replaced by CS2. When you go to the games section on Steam for Counter-Strike, you can see that the previous Counter-Strike games are available, and the only one missing is the CSGO.

Furthermore, CSGO has been officially removed from Steam as well, meaning you won’t be able to play it anymore after the release of CS2.
