The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution
Retribution retreads many of the areas and ideas from its predecessor, but it also ramps up the overall level of combat. That means you’ll have to be more alert and ready to take on walkers if you want to make it through the game. There are a few new locations to explore as well, including The Tower and Bourbon Street. In addition to that, players can now travel to New Orleans at night, adding a stealth element that makes it more challenging for walkers to spot you.
Firewall Ultra is the sequel to First Contact Entertainment’s popular PSVR shooter, Firewall Zero Hour. It takes advantage of the latest PlayStation VR2 hardware and uses the unique Sense controllers to provide gamers with an immersive tactical first-person shooter world.
This is a great example of how traditional console games can make the jump to VR without losing their quality. It’s a multiplayer game with fantastic tactical gameplay, so if you’re looking for a competitive multiplayer VR game that’s a little different, it’s definitely worth checking out.
While the game is still in development, it’s been revealed that Firewall Ultra will feature a lot of new content for both single and multiplayer players. For example, it will introduce dedicated servers, which will help to ensure a better online experience for PSVR 2 owners. It will also feature a new PvE mode and will continue to release content post-launch such as new contractors and maps.
Alvo is a PSVR shooter that focuses on fast-paced, 5v5 military multiplayer. It’s a competitive VR first-person shooter developed by indie studio Mardonpol, and distributed through OutsideIn Entertainment. With a progression system that unlocks weapons, skins and attachments using Alvo coins earned during matches, players will want to build out a dream arsenal. Skilled players will be able to unlock these guns and add-ons quickly, while less experienced players will need more practice. With three game modes and maps, Alvo has a lot to offer VR shooter fans. Even if the lobbies are fairly empty, it’s worth a look for those who love fast-paced action and want something similar to Counter Strike or Call of Duty.
Dark Pictures: Switchback VR
The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is a horror rail shooter that will be released for PlayStation VR2 on March 16, 2023. It will be a spin-off of the developer’s The Dark Pictures anthology series and will utilize PS VR2’s new features like eye-tracking support, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback.
The game will take players to five distinct worlds, each with its own twisted horrors. The player will confront hideous demonic incarnations of persecuted witches and other-worldly vampires. They’ll also escape the haunted World’s Fair Hotel’s sadistic serial killer in this nightmare ride for the ages! Supermassive Games has had a mixed record with VR titles, and Switchback VR looks to be its most ambitious so far.
It’s a spiritual successor to 2016’s Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and branches players through the sinister worlds in the Dark Pictures franchise by combining fast-paced action and beat’em up style.
Crossfire: Sierra Squad
If you’re a fan of military first-person shooters, you’ll want to keep an eye out for Crossfire: Sierra Squad. This PSVR 2 spin-off of Smilegate’s popular flatscreen FPS puts you in charge of an elite fireteam in a war over a top-secret biochemical weapon.
Expect “fierce paramilitary action” between rival factions Black List and Global Risk in over 60 missions, with solo play and 4-player co-op modes abound.
With 17 types of enemies, a variety of weapons and 3 gameplay modes (arcade, realista, horda) to choose from, you’ll get plenty of scope for immersive, high-octane fun. Developer Smilegate is no stranger to realistic AI-based shooters, but Crossfire: Sierra Squad looks to take the franchise in a new direction. It’ll put you in the shoes of an elite fireteam of special-forces operatives, battling a seemingly endless enemy force with advanced AI.
