The Secret Weapon – Assess Materia

This little Materia is way more important than it looks. Here’s how to get it working:

  1. Open your Main Menu and go to “Materia & Equipment.”
  2. Pick a character and put the Assess Materia in an open slot.
  3. In battle, use an ATB charge to activate Assess on an enemy. This tells you their weaknesses (and way more)!

Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts

Now that you know what an enemy is weak against, it’s time to exploit it! If they hate fire, use fire spells. Ice-based attacks? You get the idea. See the word “Pressured” pop up under their health bar? That means you’re doing it right! Some enemies are resistant to magic but crumble under physical combos. Experiment with your party’s skills!

Finish the Fight!

A Pressured enemy takes way more damage AND fills up their Stagger gauge faster. Here’s where it gets fun, hit them with everything you’ve got while they’re Pressured. Big spells, powerful attacks – now’s the time to show off.

Once they’re Staggered, they’re wide open for punishment. This is your chance to unleash those epic Limit Breaks!

Final Words

Coordinate with your party to pile on the right kind of attacks to Pressure and Stagger enemies faster. Some enemies take more work to Pressure than others. Don’t give up! The more you use Assess, the better you’ll understand enemy weaknesses, making future fights easier.
