A new competitive FPS game, The Finals, has just entered the arena, taking the likes of Counter-Strike, Valorant, Rainbow Six Sige, and even Warzone in its Playtest Open Beta. The hasn’t even officially launched and it is attracting nearly 200k players on Steam Launcher.

The game is best played on a Mouse/Keyboard, but as always, some players would like to enjoy this FPS beauty with a controller. We all know that both Xbox and Windows are owned by Microsoft. Xbox is a competitor to PlayStation, which is owned by Sony. Therefore, whenever you are using a PlayStation (PS) controller on Windows to play games on Steam, you will either have the controller not working at all, or it has the Xbox Button Prompts showing.

It is not exclusive to only Playstation, as players also have issues with the Xbox Controller due to the Steam Launcher. Thus, the issue isn’t with Windows only, as the main reason behind the controller not working is the Steam Launcher setting for the Controller.

How to Fix The Finals Playtest Beta Controller Not Working?

To Fix The Finals Playtest Beta Controller Not Working, head over to Steam>Library>Right Click The Finals>Properties>Controller>Disable Steam Input.

Steam reads your PlayStation DualSense controller as an Xbox Controller on Windows, not allowing it to work properly, and sometimes it doesn’t show input buttons.

So, simply heading over to the Steam Controller Options and disabling the Steam Input allows you to fix this issue.


  • Open Steam
  • Go to Steam Library
  • Right-click on The Finals
  • Go to Properties
  • Click on Controller
  • Disable the Steam Input

If the options are not showing, or this trick doesn’t work for you, simply open Steam in the Big Picture Mode and from there go to the Controller Settings. Now, you will have a lot more options showing up. Disable them, and you will be able to fix The Finals Controller Not Working.
